Story Tree is a cinematic brand film produced by New Planet Film & Media for Kodansha, Japan’s largest publisher. The film explores how ideas become stories, how stories inspire people, and how creativity passes from one generation to the next. Using the growth of a single tree as its central metaphor, Story Tree combines cinematic storytelling, striking imagery and emotional narrative to express Kodansha’s purpose of inspiring impossible stories.
Founded in 1909, Kodansha is Japan’s leading publishing company and one of the world’s most influential publishers of books, manga and magazines. Working with Kodansha on Story Tree provided an opportunity to create a film that reflected the company’s belief in the power of stories to inspire people around the world.
